Golfers are well aware of the first-tee jitters phenomenon, but a chosen few will be feeling something similar when they enter a retail store this week.
As Trendy Golf explains, one London spot is going to the extreme to prevent resellers from getting their hands on the new Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low golf shoes by setting up a physical golf exam. Hit a golf ball at least 200 yards (183 metres) and you qualify for purchasing the new kicks. Yes, this is a real thing.
A few other details: you have to win one of 72 spots via raffle to have a chance at it this coming Friday, October 13. Women are required to hit a golf ball 150 yards (137 metres). And you only get two attempts. Talk about pressure! That is, if you care that much about plunking down about $300 on a pair of golf shoes.
A golf store in London is trying to stop resellers from purchasing the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low golf shoes by requiring buyers to drive a golf ball 200+ yards (150+ for women) in two attempts. That’s an awesome idea 🤣

Apparently retail stores are getting fed up with resellers in the sneaker market so they want to make sure these go to actual golfers. And apparently, these new shoes are going to be in really high demand (Phil Mickelson wore a pair of Travis Scotts at this year’s U.S. Open). Of course, a publicity stunt like this is only going to drive that demand up.
It’s pretty brilliant marketing actually. And now we just hope they share some swing videos from the event.
