All news is good news for Jason Day and Malbon. It’s become a major tradition at this point. Wear something a bit out there, draw the ire of Golf Twitter, make some headlines and sell a lot of clothes. Rinse, repeat.

This week at Pinehurst is no different, with Day’s round-two outfit sure to cause chaos. Hopefully, the USGA won’t pull an Augusta National and ask Day to change his look, but you never truly know when Malbon is involved.

Jason Day is turning heads again with these wild (swim?) shorts at the Memorial

Day and Malbon Golf previewed the upcoming Golf & Cycle Collection the golfer is going to model this week at the US Open, and it really runs the gamut. The Thursday, Saturday and Sunday scripting all seem like reasonable, no-nonsense looks from the brown tee with embroidered chest art to the light blue vest that we’ll (hopefully) see in contention on Sunday. But when it comes to drama, Friday is the easy standout.

Adorned with a vintage MALBON across the chest, this silicon zipper pull jacket is sure to drum up some takes and controversy. It looks like it should be worn while working the pit crew at the Indy 500, not while teeing off in North Carolina.

We’re not totally sure how long he’ll even be able to wear the heavy jacket as the temperatures are going to reach the low to mid-30s by the end of the week. It’s going to be tough to putt drenched in sweat, looking like you just got out of the pool.

Tiger Woods did a mini media tour on Tuesday and Wednesday in New York City to promote the long-awaited release of his Sun Day Red apparel line. Except he hopes the new logo doesn’t last long as is.

“My goal is to ruin the logo,” Woods told Carson Daly on the “Today” Show.

Say what?

OK, it will make more sense when you take a closer look at that Tiger logo. As Woods explains, it’s made of 15 stripes – a nod to his 15 major championships. See?

But that, of course, is a number the ultra-competitive Woods still hopes to add to.

“I want to keep ruining the logo,” Woods continued with a laugh. “If the trademark is this, then my job is to ruin it.”

Told you it would make sense. Classic Tiger. And we’re guessing whoever is in charge of marketing over there has sketched out tweaked logos using 16-plus stripes.

Woods’ most recent major win came at the 2019 Masters. The 48-year-old’s next chance to “ruin” his new logo will come later this month at the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla, a place where he earned one of those stripes during the 2000 edition of the championship.

If you’ve been following professional golf this year, you’ve undoubtedly seen Jason Day’s pants. And talked about Jason Day’s pants. And heard all sorts of takes on Jason Day’s pants.

The takes and chatter about the 2015 PGA champion’s latest pair of slacks ramped up to another level during the first round of the Masters. For some casual fans, it’s likely the first time they’re seeing the very different attire Day is rocking this year. And, of course, it didn’t hurt that Day is in the same group as Tiger Woods with all the extra eyeballs that generates. The 36-year-old signed a partnership with Malbon, a trendy golf fashion brand that continues to push the envelope.

After much anticipation, Tiger Woods’ new apparel line Sun Day Red was finally announced. Just as the announcement was being made in the Palisades shortly before Woods’ host event, the Genesis this week, images of the new collection were released on Getty. Here’s a sneak peek at the line and what we know about the emerging brand so far.

Featured at the event are what looks like six men’s apparel pieces: two golf shirts, two hoodies, a full-zip jacket and a quarter-zip pullover that is already creating a lot of buzz.

The line is, of course, led by Woods’ iconic red golf shirt. With a three-button placket, minimalist collar and the SDR logo featured at the chest, it’s probably the polo we’ll see Woods (and just about every golf fan that can get their hands on one) wearing this season.

With a bit of a bolder styling, the second golf shirt included in the announcement has a black and grey abstract design that we’re guessing is made to resemble what a tiger does to its prey.

Rumblings of the partnership accelerated in January when golf Twitter discovered a trademark filed by TaylorMade in December, revealing the abstract tiger logo and Sun Day Red name. When Woods’ split with Nike was announced on January 8, he also alluded to this new chapter to come.

Wearing red has become synonymous with Woods throughout his career. Red is seen as a power colour in Thailand, where Woods’ mother is from, motivating him to make it his power colour as well. We’ve seen his Sun Day Reds in traditional golf shirts, mocknecks, jumpers and vests throughout his 27 years of wearing Nike and concurrently those tops flying off shelves at Nike stores.

The new Tiger Woods-inspired logo is very different from the original TW logo Nike launched in 2001 that features his initials in a banner-like design.

Woods made the switch to FootJoy shoes in 2022 at the Masters and is expected to stay with the shoe – in the short term at least. The trademark filing did include footwear (among 40 other product categories, ranging from golf shirts to eyewear to luggage).
