The latest drop from the creative minds at FootJoy and Todd Snyder, the American menswear designer whose golf capsules have become staples for the elevated dresser, features two limited edition golf shoes in a fresh, bright icy aqua colourway. The launch, titled, the “Mint Julep” Premiere Series, takes its inspiration from the classic Kentucky Derby cocktail, a fitting nod to old school Americana that also defines past FJ x Todd Snyder looks. This time, the two-shoe limited release sees signature FootJoy styles, the Wilcox and Field models, receive premium leather upgrade and minty-hued accents for a sophisticated, unexpected, timeless summer white shoe spin. The men’s golf shoe launch is expected to sell out, and hit the Australian market on Wednesday. You can also expect to see FootJoy ambassadors such as Justin Thomas, Max Homa, and Adam Scott wear the icy kicks during the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in, fittingly, Louisville.

“We’ve taken design details like the broguing on a bespoke shoe and inspirations from the iconic Derby and combined them with state-of-the-art technology and modern style,” Todd Snyder said in a press release.

As two of the most popular models preferred by pros and players alike, the Wilcox and Field models are both waterproof, featuring the best of FJ technology in terms of translucent cleat design, rubber grip, spiked traction, and insole comfort. While the Field offers a more minimalist, discerning look, the Wilcox has a classic eyelet design for old-school swagger.

“It’s been a pleasure to partner with Todd and his team over the last several years, combining his fresh take on men’s fashion with the modern classic styling of Premiere Series,” Chris Tobias, vice-president at FootJoy footwear, said. “With a combination of high fashion, superior comfort and golf-specific performance innovation, these shoes are made for players with a discerning sense of style.”

You may be familiar with the Adidas Tour 360 golf shoe; it’s been around for almost 20 years as Adidas Golf’s leading performance shoe.

To take the brand’s marquee shoe to the next level, designers took a two-year step back to overhaul the product head-to-toe (or heel-to-toe in this instance). Taking what was learned from the shoes that came before and the athletes at every level wearing Tour 360s, company officials say the Tour 360 24 has set a new standard for durability and performance requirements for spiked golf shoes. Here’s a look at the men’s and women’s Adidas golf shoes, available now.

2024 Equipment Guide: Adidas

The golf shoes retail at $320 for both the men’s and women’s models. It’s a premium price point that has become expected among the top golf shoe releases, but Adidas wants to give consumers more confidence in the buying process that these shoes are built to last.

One area of designers focused on improving was the heel. Across brands, the heels in golf shoes are often the first area to break down or cause discomfort. The Adidas team wanted the Tour 360 24s to be able to be worn for 18 holes right after you slip them on, requiring no “break-in” period, and to make sure the design established the longevity of the shoes. The primarily leather golf shoe features suede at the heel to reduce abrasion for added comfort and durability in the high wear-and-tear area of the shoe.

Adidas Tour360 24 Golf Shoes

“We really went above and beyond in the heel … [our teams] tested over 10 versions of the heel to make sure we got it right,” Adidas Golf’s Global footwear director Masun Denison said. “That’s one of those details that you may look at and think ‘that looks nice,’ but three years later when it feels incredible and hasn’t broken down, that’s where you see the benefit as a consumer.”

In those 10 iterations of the heel for the Tour 360 24, designers evaluated small details like foam placement and adhesive application to create the most comfortable and stable version. The sockliner on this shoe was modified to allow the heel cup to cradle the foot better and eliminate sliding during the golf swing.

Adidas Tour360 24 Golf Shoes

The fit and comfort technologies revamped in this 2024 version of the Tour 360 include the brand’s Jet Boost tech (borrowed from the running-shoe department) that fuses small foamy capsules in the heel to add cushioning and energy return.

Across the midfoot and forefoot, the addition of a two-piece plate “TPU Torsion Bridge” combines a rigid top layer for support with a flexible bottom layer to help load and unload power through the golf swing. Designers placed this bridge lower to the ground than in previous versions of the Tour 360 to provide more comfort and support when golfers take stances on uneven lies.

FootJoy will release the next evolution of Pro|SL with the all-new Pro/SLX and Pro/SLX Carbon.

The post FootJoy Pro/SLX shoes: What you need to know appeared first on Australian Golf Digest.

]]>

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Regarded as one of the most successful product franchises in golf, Pro|SL has set a high standard for performance golf shoes by delivering comfort, traction and performance for men, women and juniors at all levels of the game.

In 2024, FootJoy will release the next evolution of Pro|SL with the all-new Pro/SLX and Pro/SLX Carbon. Incorporating the most advanced materials and construction processes, Pro/SLX and Pro/SLX Carbon will advance your game with revolutionary traction, comfort and control features.

“We know the game is evolving and we need to make sure that we are evolving with a modern golf shoe for the modern golfer.” said Patrick Trubiano, Director of Product Management, FJ Footwear. “Pro/SLX will feature cutting edge, never-before-seen performance innovation that will truly advance your game.”

PRICE/AVAILABILITY: Pro/SLX Laced $299.95 (Men’s: White/Grey, Black/White, White/Navy); $289.95 (Women’s: White/Silver); Pro/SLX Carbon $339.95 (Men’s: White/Black), BOA $379.95 (Men’s: White). Available at retail from February 15.

3 COOL THINGS

1. Advanced traction. Pro/SLX will introduce a game-changing new traction design called the PWR TRAX System. It features a moulded 3D X-Wing that is engaged by swing forces to redistribute energy to the perimeter of the golf shoe, inspired by the wide base found in race cars to maximise perimeter stability and traction. The Race Trak Outsole with radial disc traction harnesses and extends into the ground to increase the overall traction footprint. Multiple traction elements target specific on-course conditions and around-the-course walking needs.

2. Advanced comfort. FJ’s popular StratoFoam midsole offers exceptional comfort and is specifically tuned to absorb and return energy with every step. Around the ankle is a 3D Moulded Collar that locks the foot in place for supreme comfort and a reliable, consistent fit.

3. Advanced control. The 3D X-Wing engages and provides increased stability as your swing engages the ground. An FTF+ foam surrounds the StratoFoam midsole for a stable platform and swing performance, with an exposed heel stabiliser and side wall TPU wrap that controls lateral and upper movement.

Like its predecessors, Pro/SLX golf shoes are sure to be popular at every level of the game, including on the professional Tours. They have already been worn in practice and in play by the likes of Sahith Theegala, Sungjae Im, Corey Connors and many more. “Golfers are going to be excited about the performance of the new Pro/SLX,” continued Trubiano. “It’s very comfortable, it’s very stable and it looks phenomenal.”

The best golf shoes fit the specific needs of female golfers of all levels better than ever before.

Now more than ever, companies are designing golf shoes for the specific needs of female golfers of all levels – not just shrinking the men’s version and making it pink. Women no longer have to choose between a golf shoe that fits their game or one that fits their look. Following the increase in demand for stylish women’s golf shoes that are packed with performance technology, footwear companies are stepping up to fill the void women have been struggling with for years. Here are the best women’s golf shoes available in Australia in 2023.

ADIDAS WOMEN’S ZG23 & ZG23 BOA

The midsole’s perimeter is firmer than the centre to increase lateral support. It’s made from a combination of the two most recent Adidas running shoe midsoles, which combine responsiveness for the action of the swing with cushioning for the comfort of the walk. Bonus: the upper is made from at least 50 percent recycled content.

ASICS WOMEN’S GEL COURSE ACE

Traction elements are segmented on the spikeless outsole to provide the optimal mix of support and mobility. The outsole also wraps up over the side of the foot to enhance lateral stability. Cushioning comes from gel in the rearfoot and a lightweight foam in the midsole.

ASICS WOMEN’S GEL GLIDE

The lightweight Flytefoam midsole provides responsive cushioning to stabilise the foot during the swing and provide resilient comfort while walking. Gel in the rearfoot keys control mid-swing, while the outsole wraps over the outside of the foot for extra lateral stability. Offered in six colours.

ECCO WOMEN’S BIOM G5 BOA

These waterproof shoes have performance leather uppers and a mesh overlay. The upper connects with the midsole for enhanced stability. This shoe is not only spiked but has hybrid sections on the outsole for increased traction and control. The Boa Fit system is on the side, allowing for the perfect closure every time.

ECCO WOMEN’S BIOM C4

This sporty shoe is made of waterproof performance leather and a mesh stretchy sock. The perforation allows for ample airflow with 360 degrees of breathability. The outsole has three different sections for traction, stability and rotational support.

ECCO WOMEN’S S-THREE BOA

This premium leather shoe is breathable, waterproof and has a three-zoned insole to maximise comfort. The sole unit is linked to the laces for enhanced stability. There are also 100 TPU traction bars in the outsole to promote better grip.

ECCO WOMEN’S TRAY

Fresh street style collides with state-of-the-art comfort and performance in the Ecco Golf Tray model. This simple-yet-classic shoe has water-repellant leathers and multi-directional traction to promote better grip.

ECCO WOMEN’S CORE

The Ecco Core is a spikeless, lightweight, water-resistant shoe. It is made from a premium mix of leathers with perforations to promote breathability. The unique outsole offers multi-directional traction and has slightly larger traction bars in high impact areas.

FOOTJOY WOMEN’S HYPERFLEX

This athletic golf shoe is designed with walking rounds in mind. Foam lines the underfoot to absorb shock and return energy, ankle padding keeps the heel in place, and a thermoplastic saddle provides a balanced amount of stability in the swing – without sacrificing flexibility for walking comfort.

FOOTJOY WOMEN’S PREMIERE SERIES ISSETTE

Inspired by traditional and refined golf styles of the past, FootJoy created this upscale shoe with luxe full-grain leather uppers but with modernised traction elements, cushioning and support.

FOOTJOY WOMEN’S FJ FUEL SPORT

FootJoy’s proprietary foam cushioning technology maximises underfoot comfort – without adding weight to the shoe. Spikeless traction on a waterproofed outsole is designed to perform in any conditions.

FOOTJOY WOMEN’S TRADITIONS SPIKELESS

The silhouette of this shoe is designed with a slightly wider and more square shape in the forefoot to enhance comfort and reduce foot fatigue. It’s a lightweight and waterproof leather shoe with a simple and easy-to-match-with design.

NEW BALANCE WOMEN’S BRIGHTON

The rubber outsole on this shoe moves with your foot’s natural motion. Plus, the 10-millimetre soft midsole and the cushy insole provide you with increased comfort throughout your round.

NEW BALANCE WOMEN’S FRESH FOAM BREATHE SPIKELESS

The breathable performance mesh upper features supportive synthetic overlays to keep the foot comfortable and prevent excessive movement during the golf swing. The midsole has a thick (10mm) cushioning that will reduce foot fatigue and provide a noticeable amount of energy return in each step.

NIKE WOMEN’S AIR JORDAN 1 LOW G

Worn by one of Nike’s most recently added ambassadors, Nelly Korda, the Air Jordan 1 Low G golf shoe is a low profile and stylish golf shoe that’ll add style to any look. Air cushioning at the underfoot provides comfort and energy return on every step, while the traction pattern will secure the feet during the swing and prevent slippage.

PUMA WOMEN’S IGNITE MALIBU

This women’s-specific design employs a proprietary foam in the midsole to boost cushioning, and the mesh upper is fused with a thermoplastic urethane film underneath to deliver support.

PUMA WOMEN’S LAGUNA FUSION KNIT

This stylish shoe utilises a knit upper that is breathable and lightweight. It’s made with a stretchy material that will support the foot during the golf swing and provide flexibility when you need it. The EVA foam is blended with a responsive rubber material to provide extra comfort and energy return.

PUMA WOMEN’S TUSTIN FUSION SLIP-ON

The perfect shoe for the golfer in a hurry. No need to lace them up because, well, these shoes simply slip on with ease, while the Pro-Fit insole ensures your feet stay snug on the inside.

SKECHERS WOMEN’S GO GOLF ELITE 5 SLIP-INS

You really shouldn’t slide your shoes on or off without untying them, but Skechers knows you do it anyway, so they made this shoe with a heavily structured heel so you can easily slip in and out.

SKECHERS WOMEN’S GO GOLF ELITE 5 GF

The silhouette of this shoe is designed with a slightly wider and more square shape in the forefoot to enhance comfort and reduce foot fatigue. It’s a lightweight and waterproof leather shoe with a simple and easy-to-match-with design.

Golfers are well aware of the first-tee jitters phenomenon, but a chosen few will be feeling something similar when they enter a retail store this week.

As Trendy Golf explains, one London spot is going to the extreme to prevent resellers from getting their hands on the new Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low golf shoes by setting up a physical golf exam. Hit a golf ball at least 200 yards (183 metres) and you qualify for purchasing the new kicks. Yes, this is a real thing.

A few other details: you have to win one of 72 spots via raffle to have a chance at it this coming Friday, October 13. Women are required to hit a golf ball 150 yards (137 metres). And you only get two attempts. Talk about pressure! That is, if you care that much about plunking down about $300 on a pair of golf shoes.

Apparently retail stores are getting fed up with resellers in the sneaker market so they want to make sure these go to actual golfers. And apparently, these new shoes are going to be in really high demand (Phil Mickelson wore a pair of Travis Scotts at this year’s U.S. Open). Of course, a publicity stunt like this is only going to drive that demand up.

It’s pretty brilliant marketing actually. And now we just hope they share some swing videos from the event.

Eight shoes to keep you grounded and in control of your swing

Eight shoes to keep you grounded and in control of your swing.

We love walking the fairways in a stylish pair of golf shoes as much as anyone, but don’t let looks distract you from finding shoes that fit. We’re talking more than the correct size. If you want to play your best, find shoes that favour your style of play. Do you over rotate during the swing? You may need a shoe with more perimeter structure. Always walk? A cushioned midsole is a must. “Players on tour know how important fit is,” says Lydia Ko, the women’s world No.1. “Your feet are the only thing that’s connected to the ground. It’s such a critical piece of equipment golfers often overlook.” According to a FootJoy study, 70 percent of golfers are wearing the wrong size shoe. One of those golfers turned out to be Justin Thomas. In testing FootJoy’s Premiere Series, he noticed looseness and instability in his right heel. FootJoy examined his sizing and discovered his right foot is smaller than his left, so Thomas now plays in a size 8.5 in the right foot and a 9 in the left. He says a bad fit “can lead to foot fatigue, discomfort and loss of power because you’re not using the ground effectively”. When searching for a new pair, prioritise fit and then style. Try these eight on for size.

Clockwise from top

FootJoy HyperFlex

The HyperFlex, already popular with walkers for its feathery weight, is now more stable. A plastic
section wraps around the mid-foot as you tighten the laces. One version also has a carbon plate for even more structure.

Ecco Classic Hybrid

The first classic shoe Ecco has made in years has an old-school-looking upper and a new outsole. The
traction bars are larger than in previous Ecco models and have been rotated at the toe, a high-wear area, to increase traction.

Callaway Coronado V3

Feedback from tour pros on earlier versions led Callaway to reinforce the heel and perimeter. Now the shoe offers ample support when weight shifts to the edges of the feet during the swing. The microfibre leather upper is also waterproof.

Clockwise from top left

Adidas ZG23

The midsole’s perimeter is firmer than the centre to increase lateral support. Collin Morikawa asked Adidas to make this shoe so comfortable that he would forget he’s wearing it and so clean-looking he wouldn’t notice it at address.

Asics Gel-preshot

The flexible grooves in the outsole are angled so that your foot can move and rotate naturally through
the swing. The outsole’s perimeter has larger lugs to provide a stable base. The gel under the heel ensures a more comfortable walk.

Puma Ignite Elevate

The new outsole pattern offers double the points of traction than previous Ignite models. Each lug protrudes farther out and is less round than in past years, allowing the lugs to dig deeper into the
turf during the swing.

Nike Air Zoom Victory Tour 3

Pressurised air in a sturdy pocket enhances comfort, and the plate and foam underneath it provide structure and energy return. You’ll be able to use the ground effectively and have a comfortable walk.

Skechers Go Golf Elite 5 Slip-ins

You really shouldn’t slide your shoes on or off without untying them, but Skechers knows you do it anyway, so this shoe has a heavily structured heel that allows you to easily slip in and out. [Available in Australia October 2023

Adam Scott never thought he would wear spikeless golf shoes. He began his career wearing the stiff, metal-spiked FootJoy Classics. He wanted structure and traction to support his golf swing.

When “spikeless” shoes came out, the view among tour players was “you’ll just slip around all over the place”, Scott says. But technology evolved, and Scott began wearing a shoe with plastic nubs in 2015. He didn’t lose traction.

“In golf there are myths that have been around that aren’t necessarily true,” he says. “Spikeless was one. I’d say, ‘This spikeless shoe might have better traction,’ and guys would say, ‘No way – I’d slip everywhere’ without even trying it.” Seven years later, Scott’s back in a spiked shoe, this time one with plastic cleats because he needs more structure to help alleviate calf ache.

As technology and Scott’s needs evolved, so did his shoe choices. It’s a good lesson for all golfers: (1) Be amenable to trying different types of shoes to find what best fits your game. (2) Don’t judge a new shoe without trying it. (3) Ask to test your golf shoes.

Golf Galaxy’s Chris Marchini lets his customers take shoes for a spin in the hitting bay because making swings is the best way to evaluate shoes.

FootJoy’s new Fuel collection combines a comfortable spikeless design with the stability that tour players expect in their golf shoes.

One of the most important factors in golf shoe selection is traction, since one of the main functions of a golf shoe is to keep you from slipping mid-swing.

FootJoy has gone beyond their traditional spiked construction and created new stabilisation technology for the Fuel collection. However, the shoes maintain a sleek sneaker-inspired look that can be worn both on and off the course, despite this new gripping technology.

The model features a ‘Power Stabilizer’ outsole that will fit the needs of any tour-level player, and in turn, the everyday golfer. Plus, a Stability Bridge runs through the centre of the shoe’s base for added control and support.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NnHzJ2lt38

In addition to the new spikeless traction technology, the FootJoy Fuel includes a waterproof upper that doesn’t compromise the shoe’s comfort. This pair is designed to allow you to walk for hours without foot pain, as stratolite foam provides lightweight cushioning throughout the shoe. The model also has a slightly narrower heel than other FootJoy designs, contributing to the athletic feel and look.

The FootJoy Fuel line is available for both men and women, in several eye-catching colourways. Plus, there is a Fuel BOA model for men and women, which features FootJoy’s signature laceless design that secures your foot in from all sides. Both versions of the Fuel model look like a sneaker, but include the proper features for maximised golf shoe performance.

Stay tuned for Australian pricing and availability.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: From the ground up, the Tour360 22 sits on adidas’ ‘Feet You Wear’ last, serving as the foundation for its New ‘Tour360 Fit’, while its new direct-injected Spikemore traction system will help golfers stay locked-in and increase confidence with every swing. It’s the first time in golf that the company has included these features.

PRICE/AVAILABILITY: $300. The laced models of the Tour360 22 will be available at adidas.com.au, the adidas app, and at select retailers worldwide beginning January 28. The BOA models will be available shortly thereafter, beginning March 1.

THE DEEP DIVE: After nearly two decades of building upon and improving that original model of the Tour360, adidas went back to the beginning; adopting that same mindset of taking risks that ultimately drove the creation for that first model. With the Tour360 22, adidas’ primary focus was to re-examine how it addressed two critical areas that are important for golfers of all skill levels: fit and traction.

To get there, the company looked at historical models of the Tour360 as well as its own brand archives from other categories for inspiration. It landed on a recipe of key features that makes this adidas’ best-performing Tour360 to date.

“The Tour360 is synonymous with pinnacle technology and premium materials, and we remained true to that throughout the design process of this new model,” said Masun Denison, global footwear director, adidas Golf.

“Golfers will instantly notice a more natural fit that offers better stability, better traction and amazing comfort. I’ve been a part of the creation of every model of the Tour360, so I can confidently say that this is our best-performing model we have ever introduced.”

With so much lateral movement and weight transfer in the golf swing, adidas was intrigued with the use-cases that the brand’s Feet You Wear last had to offer. The company first introduced Feet You Wear in 1996. The design mimics the natural shape of the foot, ultimately helping to create a better connection with the ground and accommodate the natural movements of the foot in all directions. Knowing how important the ground is in the golf swing, an added benefit of using the Feet You Wear last helps golfers utilise this connection with the ground to generate power more easily in the swing. The design truly hugs and cradles the natural contours of the foot to optimise performance.

The new Tour360 Fit also includes:

 • Dualstack Midsole – adidas combined the comfort of its full-length Boost cushioning with an EVA stability frame. This EVA stability frame is a horseshoe-shaped piece that surrounds the full-length Boost with EVA chassis, strategically placed on the perimeter of the forefoot to provide golfers with lightweight stability, comfort and performance. It’s the company’s most technical and advanced midsole that it has ever offered. The benefits are not easily seen, but certainly felt.
 • GeoFit Collar Pad – Designed to enhance the fit and feel on the top of the foot, this piece gently conforms to the individual to provide a more personalised and comfortable fit.
 • 3D Torsion System – Targeted stability in the midfoot, this mold plate enhances the connection with the ground while also helping to stabilise footwork throughout the swing.
 • Insite Sockliner – Working in tandem with the Feet You Wear last, this sockliner cradles the contours of the foot, especially in the heel, to provide enhanced cushioning, comfort, and support.

Adidas didn’t stop there. It’s introducing its latest iteration of Spikemore with the Tour360 22 that features cleats directly injected onto the TPU base. Company engineers discovered that by injecting the cleats, they could provide more precise locations that would allow them to adjust density, make the inside and outside arm shapes unique and adjust the size depending on where the cleat sits on the outsole.

Each cleat also includes a centre cone, which helps to improve overall grip. While larger than the company’s spikes of the past, this new configuration and variance in size helps to disperse weight and promote increased green friendliness.

As part of adidas’ effort to improve fit, it collaborated with the team at BOA Technology to elevate both the fit and performance for the BOA models of the Tour360 22. The company worked with their team at the BOA Fit Performance Lab to find a way to optimise both fit and function. The PerformFit Wrap system we created consists of two overlapping panels that pull down over the top of the instep.

The BOA Fit System, featuring the micro-adjustable Li2 dial wraps around the heel, locking the foot into place while providing customised fit. The BOA model also features a sockfit construction, designed to give golfers ultimate support, stability, and confidence.

The TOUR360 22 continues to include the best materials for enhanced durability, but now with even more purpose. The upper features premium rich leather (one-year waterproof warranty), microfibre, and textiles that incorporate recycled materials, all part of the company’s mission to help end plastic waste.

What the players think

“I’ve worn almost every model of Tour 360 since I started my career and I’m always amazed at how the footwear team continues to raise the bar year after year. I really like the design and style with this new model, but the traction, feel and comfort I get definitely make this the best version of the Tour360 that I’ve ever worn.” – Dustin Johnson [above]

“I got to see first-hand how much detail went into bringing this shoe to life and that was a really unique learning experience. Footwear is so important in the golf swing, but it can also help boost confidence. After spending quite a bit of time testing the Tour360 22, I know golfers will feel a higher level of stability, traction and comfort, which are things we all need from our footwear out on the course so that we can perform our best.” – Xander Schauffele

“The Tour360 22 is packed with so much innovation and technology that I could feel the difference the minute I put them on. What impressed me the most was how meticulous the team was throughout the design process, and I think the final product is a testament to adidas’ commitment to never stop striving for better. I’m really excited to perform in it this season.” – Danielle Kang
